Design Engineer

£27,000-£35,000 per annum

As a Design Engineer, you will be at the forefront of designing and developing cutting-edge Residential Wondrwall Home Automation and Energy Management Systems. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage projects from initial concept through to construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Design & Development: Create comprehensive system designs, including full layout plans for Wondrwall automation systems, Solar PV roof designs, system sizing, heat pump design, and IHP hot water cylinder ducting.
  • BOQ Development & Revision Tracking: Create and maintain Bills of Quantities (BOQs) to document materials, components, and system requirements, ensuring all installation needs are accurately tracked through revision stages.
  • Feasibility Assessments: Conduct feasibility assessment and perform sizing calculations to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Apply your knowledge of regulations to ensure all designs adhere to current legislation and industry standards.
  • Sales Support: Collaborate closely with the sales team, providing technical expertise to support client needs.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to refine and improve design and development processes, ensuring greater efficiency.

What you will need:

Essential:

  • Experience with CAD Modelling Software (E.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit).
  • Experience designing systems such as solar PV, battery storage, heat pumps, or smart home automation.
  • Ability to manage projects effectively from concept to installation.
  • Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges in system design.
  • A flexible approach to work and the ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Desired:

  • Knowledge of UK regulations and design requirements for residential energy systems.
  • Experienced in the solar PV sector, including DC electrical design and familiarity with energy yield modelling tools such as PVSyst or PVSol.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related field is advantageous.
